STILL IN GOOD NIC!

German new Bhoy tells fans to get behind Hoops’ title charge

- Aberdeen 1 Celtic BY SCOTT BURNS

1 NICOLAS KUHN has urged the disgruntled Celtic support to remain behind their club because that togetherness will help them regain their Premiership crown.

A section of the Hoops support chanted and displayed a banner before and after the 1-1 draw at Aberdeen which read: ‘Celtic board – on your heads be it.’

Celtic remain on top of the table but if Rangers win their game in hand they can go level and the finger of blame is very much being pointed at the Parkhead hierarchy.

Kuhn, when asked if Celtic can still win the league, answered: “Of course, the quality of the team is very good. We will also give our best every week.

“Yes, there is a long way to go and a lot of games to play. “Of course we need to be positive. “We need the fans and we also need to stay together, so we can improve and get better and better in every game.”

Celtic moved to bring Rodgers back after Spurs tempted fans’ hero Ange Postecoglou south and although the champions have remained on top, the Carnlough man has been unable to hit the heights of his first spell.

The Hoops also lost their grip on their Viaplay Cup and Philippe Clement’s arrival at Ibrox has seen their title rivals close the gap and turn up the heat.

Celtic now face a trip to Hibernian on Wednesday night, a venue where Rodgers has struggled for a victory over two spells.

But he could be boosted by a quick-fire return for Daizen Maeda who has been away with Japan at the Asia Cup.

In a huge shock, the Japanese were put out of the tournament by Iran in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
