like he has to sit some games out again.

“He’s very sad, very disappointed, but we are with him. Let’s wait and see, but it is really bad.

“It’s very bad for him and the team. Lisandro (above) is just returning.

“He’s very important for us. He brings spirit to the team, aside from his football ability.”

Striker Hojlund, who has four goals for the Reds in his last four games, said: ”It’s always special to play on your birthday.

“About a month ago, Alejandro and I did an interview and he said there was a lot of talk about us not scoring enough goals. But we’re still young. I’m just 21 and he’s 19.

“We’re getting better and better every day and you can see the connection is growing between us.”

West Ham boss David Moyes (inset) suffered a miserable return to his former club, after seeing his Hammers’ six-game unbeaten run in the league come to an end.

However Moyes, whose side registered 22 shots but could not hit the net, felt that the scoreline flattered United.

“I don’t think the scoreline was correct,” said Moyes. “We didn’t finish our chances. But overall, we played better.”

When asked about Emerson’s miss, he said: “That tells you it just was not going to be our day. They broke away and they shoot, and it takes a big deflection and that makes it 2-0. “We have been on a pretty good run without being at our best, with some players also away,” he added.

“I thought today we looked like it, but goals have been a little hard to come by. Hopefully there’s a wee bit of mitigating circumstances and hopefully the goals will start flowing in the coming weeks.”
