FROK STAR’S SHOW NEARLY GOT RUINED

MADS FROKJAER believes Preston need to keep things simple after being forced to cling on in this five-goal thriller.

Striker Will Keane and George Edmundson’s own goal inside the first 10 minutes put the hosts two goals ahead.

Keane scored his 11th goal of the season to make it three before the break, however Kieffer Moore, a deadline-day signing, breathed life into Ipswich with two goals in the final 15 minutes.

The Lilywhites breathed a collective sigh of relief at the final whistle.

Frokjaer (top), who had a hand in all three goals, said: “We overcomplicated things a bit in the second half. It was always going to be difficult when they brought a big man on up front.

“We maybe should have gone long a bit more towards the end of the game.”

Frokjaer felt Town stopper Vaclav Hladky should have seen red for handling a back pass.

The Danish playmaker added: “He didn’t make a foul on me. The guy played it back to the keeper and he took it with his hands.

“I didn’t touch the ball. I’m pretty sure in the laws of the game you can’t get a back pass from your player and try to play volleyball on the floor.

“It should have been a straight red.”

The Tractor Boys’ automatic promotion hopes suffered another bump with defeat.

Kieran Mckenna’s side, who were dumped out of the FA Cup by minnows Maidstone, have won just one of their last eight league games.

But the boss stressed: “I will fully support the players. They are trying to do the right things.

“It’s brought us success over the last two years. But we did not quite execute it right.

“We know the rewards of having a style and system that we believe in. We have had success from that and will continue to have it.

“It’s not easy to execute a lot of things on the pitch. These things can happen.”
