RTE has refused to comment after it emerged that Ireland’s Eurovision entrant has featured in an X-rated video published on porn websites.

Bambie Thug was selected last week to represent the country in Sweden in May, when the non-binary artist will perform Doomsday Blue.

We can reveal the 30-yearold from Macroom, Co Cork, previously starred in an explicit video.

The two-minute production has been viewed nearly 55,000 times on one website, attracting a total of 166 subscribers. They are ranked 32,758th of the models featured on the site.

In the video, Bambie Thug appears naked and sings about taking drugs while eating cake from between their legs and rubbing it on their breasts.

The clip, which is the music video for her song, Birthday, ends with the image of a candle sticking out of their bottom.

When the video was brought to the attention of RTE a spokesperson said they would be making “no comment”.

The national broadcaster is responsible for selecting the act that will represent the country in the annual song contest, as well as financing the entry.

In 2016, an apparent porn scandal threatened to scupper Russia’s Eurovision bid when pictures emerged of its entrant, Sergey Lazarev, naked on a bed, holding a saw to the face of a woman who was handcuffed to a radiator.

However, the Russian authorities dismissed claims that the singer had a secret past in porn, explaining that the images had been part of a campaign highlighting issues with domestic violence.

Lazarev eventually finished third in the Eurovision final with his song, You Are the Only One, having topped the televote with 361 points but coming only fifth with the national juries.

Bambie Thug told Gay Times website last June that they wrote the song when they were “taking too many drugs”, and they don’t perform it anymore.

They added: “We need to parade healthy behaviour. It’s important if we are going to be breaking [through] so that younger kids and teens listening to our music, and looking up to us, aren’t fed this negative behaviour.”

Bambie Thug declined to comment on the video.
