JOE Biden had to hold his “Irish temper” as he attacked Donald Trump over allegations he called fallen American World War II soldiers “suckers and losers”.

The US President strongly criticised the republican during a fundraiser in Nevada on Sunday.

He also mentioned his son, Beau, who served in the National Guard in Iraq and diedof cancer in 2015.

Mr Biden said: “This is a guy, when he was in France, they asked him to go to American Cemetery.

“You know what he said? He said those folks were suckers and losers.

“Suckers and losers for God’s sake. I’m glad I wasn’t there. No I should say that.

“He called your sons and daughters who gave their lives in this country suckers and losers. Who the hell does he think he is?”

“My son was not a sucker, nor were any of yours.

“Who does this guy think he is talking about Americans?”

“I have to hold my Irish temper. I’m glad I wasn’t with him. I’m not sure what I would’ve done. He said they’re all suckers and losers.”

Trump has denied these claims which allegedly happened in 2018.

During a more intimate gathering with wealthy donors in Henderson, Nevada, Mr Biden referred to his rival as “Donald Hoover Trump,” making a historical reference to Herbert Hoover.

He emphasied Trump’s perceived threat to democracy and criticised his record on jobs.

The president also condemned Trump’s reported desire for a recession during Biden’s tenure, calling it “unbelievable” and “un-american”.

He ticked through a list of reasons he says a second Trump presidency would be a “nightmare” as he urged Nevada Democrats to vote for him in the state’s presidential primary this week and for his party at large in November.

Mr Biden opened a campaign swing with a fundraiser where he focused on Trump’s history of provocative statements.

He described the January 6 US Capitol rioters as “hostages,” his musing about a former top military officer deserving execution and his wish to be a Day One “dictator”. Mr Biden said: “We have to keep the White House.

“We must keep the Senate and win back the House”.

Accomplish that, he said, and “we can say we saved American democracy.” Mr Biden equally blunt in talking up his record at his subsequent rally where he implored voters to “imagine the nightmare of a second Trump administration.

I’m glad I wasn’t with him, I’m not sure what I would have done
