LIPPY NEAL WON’T FACE FA CHARGE

- BY JOHN CROSS

NEAL MAUPAY will escape any punishment for allegedly taunting

Kyle Walker about his children.

Manchester City defender Walker is claimed by a lip reader to have threatened to “knock out” the Brentford striker during a furious bust-up.

But Football Association chiefs will not take any action because the incident during City’s win at Brentford on Monday night was not reported by referee Jarred Gillett.

The ugly row came after Maupay – who has gained a reputation as one of the Premier League’s biggest wind-up merchants – managed to get under Walker’s skin.

England star Walker has recently publicly apologised to his wife for cheating on her and fathering two children with another woman, which led to him being ridiculed by Brentford fans.

Maupay, who was also involved in a wind-up with Tottenham’s James Maddison by mimicking his darts goal celebration last week, was seen mouthing off to Walker.

According to a lip-reading expert, Walker complained to Gillett and fourth official Stuart Attwell that comments had been made about his children.

Walker is alleged to have said: “Ref, he spoke about my kids, he spoke about my kids, not once, but twice.” Maupay is said to have replied: “That’s a lie, that’s not fair, I promise you now.”

Walker looked incensed (above) and after the game his manager Pep Guardiola refused to even answer a question for the media about the row as he did not want to risk adding fuel to the fire.

Maupay has gained a reputation for being one of the top flight’s worst offenders as his wind-ups date back to and beyond the time he taunted Arsenal players after scoring a late winner in Brighton’s victory in lockdown in June 2020. He behaved in a similar fashion while playing for Everton.
