BRENG IT ON!

EAGER soccer fans were last night waiting for the FAI to launch new season tickets to guarantee seats for a crunch clash against England.

The Boys In Green were drawn at home to face Gareth Southgate’s side in Dublin on September 7.

The match is scheduled to take place the day before the second anniversary of Britain’s longest ever serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, 2022.

Ireland supporters were yesterday expecting an upsurge in applications for season tickets – which cost from €150 – after Ireland was pitted in the same Nation’s League group as the Three Lions.

Ireland will also conclude their campaign with an away game against England in November.

The FAI was yesterday contacted for details of the next release date of season tickets but a timeframe was not provided.

A first tranche was given a limited-time release before Christmas.

Until season tickets become available again, the FAI is selling a package for two upcoming games against Belgium and Switzerland. These cost from €70 upwards.

Fans yesterday complained online about the cost of attending matches.

One wrote on X: “I understand why the FAI have this duo package for games, but if you didn’t have a season ticket and went to every home game this year, it would cost you between €300 to €350 on tickets alone and three of them are friendlies.”

Another wrote: “Can’t believe we play them at home on Lizzie’s two-year anniversary.” One said: “For the Ireland v England game, I am looking forward to all [those] with no season ticket crying because the tickets are expensive.”

Before the England game, Ireland face Belgium on March 23 and Switzerland on March 26 in the Aviva Stadium.
