Maguire most searched for in Ireland
NEVEN Maguire was the most searched for homegrown celeb chef in online searches in Ireland last year.
Food and drink tour operator Explore Worldwide trawled through 12 months of Google data to find the most popular cooks.
Maguire, 50, from Cavan, is the most googled in Ireland with 97,200 searches.
He has more than double the amount of fellow TV chef Kevin Dundon, 34,800, who is followed by Dylan Mcgrath, 28,800, Rachel Allen, 1,320, and her mother-in-law Darina Allen, 120.
The most searched chefs blog on the explorewide.com website revealed the most popular in countries across the globe.
Gordon Ramsay, 57, was the most googled chef worldwide last year with 12million online searches.
An Explore Worldwide spokesperson said: “Whether it’s authentic local dishes or new restaurant openings, food hugely influences where we want to travel.
“In recognition of the global influence of the culinary world, we released new research which reveals the chefs that are cooking up a storm in the hearts of food lovers everywhere.”
Top of the list in Europe was Ramsay, followed by Jamie Oliver, 48, on nearly 4.5million searches and Nigella Lawson, 63, with just under 3million.
Nigella was ousted from the top three in the most searched worldwide stats.
Ramsay was No1, with Oliver just behind but American chef Guy Fieri, 56, was third with 4,416,000 searches.
The Explore Worldwide spokesperson said: “Many people are familiar with Gordon Ramsay thanks to his phenomenally popular TV shows, including Hell’s Kitchen.”
Maguire began his career in his family’s restaurant in Blacklion, Co Cavan, before working under Ramsay.
He has published 19 cookery books, has a Cook with Neven Maguire range at Dunnes Stores, and operates Macnean Restaurant with his wife Amelda.
The Neven Maguire Cookery School beside the restaurant opened in 2014.
