THERE’S NOTHING KELCE LIKE IT
Swift jets in from Japan to see Travis in battle for Super Bowl
SPORTS fans from around the world will be tuning in to one of the year’s biggest events as Super Bowl 58 touches down on Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in the hotly anticipated showpiece, with even Taylor Swift set to make an appearance to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Swift, who has a concert in Japan tonight will be immediately jetting back to the US so she can watch him try to spur on Kansas to victory.
After 284 games, the 2023 NFL season will no doubt come to an explosive conclusion at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, with Kansas fighting for their fourth Lombardi Trophy and the Californians aiming for their sixth.
But with the occasion being a pop culture phenomenon in its own right, it’s not just the grid-iron goingson that will be enjoyed by NFL fans worldwide when the game kicks off, at 11.30pm Irish time.
For this year’s half-time show, just a year after Rihanna’s epic performance where she announced her second pregnancy, eight-time Grammy winner Usher will be taking to the stage to entertain audiences. Meanwhile,
Country music icon Reba Mcentire, Post Malone and Andra Day have all been chosen as the pre-game entertainment with Mcentire singing the national anthem.
It’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for surprise guests though, as most half-time shows include surprise appearances.
Superstars Eminem, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg joined in the fun last year.
Interestingly, multi-millionaire Usher won’t get paid for his 13-minute performance.
However, he is likely to enjoy payback from the audience of millions when his new album, Coming
Home, is released the next day. Speaking on Good Morning America, the 45-year-old Texan mentioned his first performance in the iconic show 13 years ago made him want to return.
He said: “Since that day, I think, I had it in my mind that I wanted to go back to the stage.”
Fans wanting to watch the Super Bowl in Ireland can do so free on ITV1 from 11.30pm or with plenty of pregame analysis on Sky Sports Action from 10pm with a paid-for Sky subscription. Meanwhile, US fans will get a sneak peek of some of the year’s biggest films and huge celebrities making cameos for big brands
