JASON KILLERS’ RELEASE DATE BROUGHT FORWARD

Evil pair to leave jail 21 days early

- BY NICOLA DONNELLY JAIL Molly Martens news@irishmirror.ie

THE family of Jason Corbett have said Molly and Thomas Martens “are and will remain killers” after they are set to be released 21 days earlier than expected.

Molly, 40, and her 73-year-old father Thomas, were switched from Davidson County Jail in the US to high security prisons last December after they were re-sentenced for the 2015 manslaughter.

The move happened just days after we exclusively exposed the prison date blunders that left Jason’s family outraged and US prison officials red-faced.

The Department of Adult Correction in North Carolina confirmed the imminent release dates for the pair of Tuesday, December 5 and Wednesday, December 6 displayed on their publicly available prison records were correct.

But later, prison officials admitted to a mix up due to “human error” and reversed their embarrassing gaffe which then prevented the pair walking free.

Prison officials were forced to then admit the killers would be caged until June 27. Now, we can reveal Molly and Thomas’ release dates have been amended to free them on June 6. That is 21 days earlier than their projected release – adding further insult to the Limerick dad-of-two’s memory.

Jason’s sister Tracey told us last night: “Our family is disappointed with the news. The sentence was and never will be sufficient. They are and will remain killers.” In a statement last night, a spokesperson for the Office of Communication of North

Carolina Department of Adult Correction confirmed the killers’ early release.

They added: “Today [Tuesday] we received amended judgment and commitment documents from the court in Davidson County for both Thomas Martens and Molly Martens Corbett. “The additional 21 days of time served moves the release dates for both to June 6, 2024.

“The updated release dates should be reflected on the NCDAC website on Wednesday after the nightly update.”
