A FAMILY convinced their missing son was murdered by the Frankenstein killer are horrified the monster may be freed tomorrow.

The parents of naval rating Simon Parkes, who vanished in 1986 aged 18, are hoping a UK parole panel will deny double killer Allan Grimson his freedom.

The former Petty Officer, now 66, was jailed for 22 years in 2001 for murdering naval rating Nicholas Wright, 18, from Leicestershire, in 1997, and barman Sion Jenkins, 20, of Newbury, Berks, in 1998.

The victims, like Simon, were serving on the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious.

Grimson, dubbed the Frankenstein killer, has long been suspected of killing Simon, who went ashore in Gibraltar but did not make it back on board.

It also feared he may be connected to 20 other unsolved killings.

Radio operator Simon’s family said although a recent dig for his remains in Gibraltar failed to turn up fresh evidence, Grimson must stay behind bars. The killer has denied involvement in Simon’s disappearance but the Parkes are“100% certain” he was responsible. Mum Margaret Parkes, 78, who lives in Kingswood, near Bristol, with husband David, said: “Everything has to be done to prevent him getting parole. He is a danger to society.

“He only got 22 years for two horrific murders. His words – they were better than sex – those were his words.

“He is a psychopath. Do you ever change? I don’t think so.

“We just need to find Simon. I know Allan Grimson is responsible but at the moment it is all circumstantial. We have to prove it.”

She said initially it had been assumed Simon was absent without leave.

But she said he was having the experience of a lifetime and had no reason not to come home. “We were getting letters, phone calls from him saying, make sure you meet us at the docks and I want to do this and that when I get home.

“We thought he’d be in such a safe place. He was with the Navy and just doing his job. But he wasn’t safe.”

Everything has to be done to stop him getting parole. He is a dangerous psychopath
