The Egyptian took part in team training for the first time since picking up a hamstring injury while at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah, 31, has not featured for the Reds since their 4-2 win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day when he scored twice and grabbed an assist.

The Liverpool forward jetted off to Ivory Coast soon after for AFCON but then suffered an injury with his country in the group stages.

Salah headed back to Merseyside to go through the rehab process, which caused a stir back in his homeland. But the plan was worked out between Liverpool and the Egyptian FA in a bid to get Salah fitter quicker in case the Pharaohs reached the final.

Egypt went out in the last 16 without their talisman but he hasn’t been fit to play for the Premier League leaders since his return.

It is not known yet if Salah will be ready for the weekend trip to Brentford as Liverpool look to maintain top spot in the Premier League.

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp said last week he was hoping Salah would be ready for “parts” of first-team training this week.

But the sight of him back on the pitch with his team-mates means a return is getting closer.

Defender Joe Gomez and keeper Alisson were also back training after a flu bug kept them out of the weekend win over Burnley.

Conor Bradley was also on a clip of the players coming out for training, which the club released after he had time off last week following the death of his father.

Dominik Szoboszlai has yet to return to full sessions as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Klopp said the Hungary midfielder was a doubt for the Brentford clash and even the Carabao Cup final a week later against Chelsea at Wembley.

Trent Alexanderarnold was forced off at half-time of the win over the Clarets on Saturday with a recurrence of the knee injury he only recently returned from. Klopp said the right-back felt something in the knee, which meant he was substituted as a precaution.
