Jennifer opens up on her journey to Ben
JENNIFER Lopez says her “defining” new film project charts her 20-year journey to love, leading to her reunion with hubby Ben Affleck.
The 54-year-old superstar tied the knot with Hollywood actor Ben, 51, in 2022. The couple – nicknamed Bennifer – were first engaged in 2002, but split in 2004.
J-LO said: “I’ve been on this journey, and I’ve been trying to figure it out. Now I feel like because Ben and I have rediscovered each other – and now that we’re married – I have something to offer.
“This is the defining piece of work that’s going to close that chapter so I can move on to the next part of my life.”
The couple attended This Is Me… Now: A Love Story in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The film is a musical and visual reimagining of events that inspired her upcoming album This Is Me… Now, the sequel to 2002 album This Is Me… Then.
Jennifer revealed director Ben’s advice helped push her over the finish line.
J-LO told Variety: “Ben told me, ‘You’re going to write it, and then you’re going to film it. You’re going to do a rough cut, and you’re going to see what it needs, and you’re going to do three days of reshoots.’
“I said, ‘I can’t do that – I don’t have any more money!’ But he was like, ‘You’re going to do a few days of reshoots, and then you’re going to go back in and edit it. And you’re going to tell your story.’”
She has said the album is more about her search for love rather than them. In the film teaser, she says: “When I was a little girl, when someone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always... in love.”
