Aisling eyes Carrigstown comeback .. but loving best role as new mum
FAIR City star Aisling Kearns has revealed she would love to return to Carrigstown some day.
She played the role of Maria Purcell but left the soap last year ahead of welcoming her first baby, a son called Tommy.
The actress said: “It’s interesting because I kind of don’t really know what to do.
“Like I did an audition for a play when he was seven weeks old.
“And like, I loved the play and like I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just going to go for the audition and I didn’t end up getting the part but I was really grateful because I was like, ‘I’m definitely not ready to go back to that kind of work’. “Theatre is very intense. “But when it comes to TV and film, it’s kind of different because it’s days here and therem unless you’re playing a lead. You can kind of work it a little bit better but at the moment I’m happy just mothering but then when it comes to Instagram and Tiktok and videos and stuff like that when I have a free minute that’s when I’ve been, ‘I’m like, ‘Oh I have an idea. Daddy hold him, I need like 15 minutes.
“Absolutely [I would go back to Fair City]. Like, you know, she [Maria] lives in Sligo now living her best life. No, it’s definitely something that I would be interested in doing. I had a great time when I worked there. It’s a job in this industry that is consistent. Like, you know, it’s a Monday to Friday job as well, which does not come along, and all the other kinds of styles work.
“So yeah I loved it. I really enjoyed it, the crew, working with the cast, it was exciting so I really enjoyed it. So yes, it’s always possible for her to return.”
Aisling stars as Sally in Baz Ashmawy’s new comedy series, Faithless, which airs on Virgin Media from February 26.
She said: “I think she becomes one of the grounded characters. Everyone’s a little bit crazy.
“A lot of the characters are quite crazy and then you have those few kind of grounded ones that pull people back. So that’s kind of Sally’s part. We see more of her from episode three onwards.”
