The Fab Fourcast

Beatles biopic on each member of legendary band to hit big screen

BEATLEMANIA is due to light up cinemas once again, with all four members of the legendary group getting their very own biopic.

Director Sam Mendes has been given permission to tell the Fab Four’s life stories and use their music rights for the “epic cinematic experience”.

The Oscar winner said: “I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and I’m excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies.”

The project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles – Sir Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a dramatised, scripted film.

Mendes will direct all four movies and produce alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and her colleague Julie Pastor. Jeff Jones will executive produce for Apple Corps Ltd.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is to

finance and distribute the movies in cinemas in 2027. Harris said: “We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience: four films told from four different perspectives, which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time.”

She added it was an “immense privilege” to have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing for the project.

In their heyday, The Beatles released their own films A Hard Day’s Night (1964), Help! (1965) and Yellow Submarine (1968).

The Mendes films are the latest in a series of recent high-profile Beatles projects.

In 2021, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson released Get Back, an eight-hour documentary on the making of the album Let It Be.

And last year the band put out their “final single”, Now And Then, a rediscovered John Lennon demo that the other members later contributed to.
