OVERJOYED Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has revealed there is no sign of her cancer after her latest round of treatment.

The professional dancer, 33, said: “No evidence of disease! Words I dreamed of ! My biggest accomplishment yet!

“I won’t be getting the all-clear for five years especially with a hormone-fed cancer. But it was all worth it.

“Those are words I never thought I’d hear at one point.

“So grateful for all the care I received and continue to have.

“To my husband, family and friends who supported me unconditionally and to you guys [her fans], thank you!”

It comes after the Mirror reported Amy had been rushed to hospital last week with respiratory problems. But the setback was thankfully only a minor bump in her recovery.

Amy will still need a monthly injection for five years and regular checkups. She added: “Chemo and this past year has certainly took its toll on my body both physically and mentally, so I’ll be taking the next few months to heal and recover.”

Amy has been open about her breast cancer diagnosis and previously discussed how she found a lump in her breast one day before her honeymoon.

She had a mastectomy after being told she had the disease in May 2023 and then was told by doctors that she had secondary cancer.

She has been sharing her story, including her chemotherapy sideeffects and personal plans, with her legion of fans.

“I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance at life. Something I know not all get,” she said in a heartfelt message. “I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever. Cancer affects too many so I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness and make sure I get as many as I can to check themselves. It’s time to look ahead after what’s been the toughest year, and one I certainly didn’t expect.”

Amy’s famous friends were quick to rally around her after she gave her positive update.

Former Strictly contestant Gemma Atkinson posted: “Amazing news, Amy.” And DJ Clara Amfo, who appeared on the 18th series of the hit BBC show, added: “Fantastic news!”

Fellow Strictly star Dianne Buswell, 34, said: “Best news to come this year and it’s just the beginning of the good stuff ! I told you this is your year, my girl, and I am cheering you on with every bone in my body.”

Revealing the moment she discovered a lump in her breast, Amy previously told Hello! magazine: “I was in the shower and I felt this hard lump in my right breast. I was in shock; I checked again.”

She then went to see her GP before being sent for an emergency referral, after which she was diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer. “You just don’t ever think it’s going to happen to you. I hadn’t thought it was possible to get breast cancer at my age,” she said, explaining that her mum Gillian had breast cancer in her fifties.

When she had her mastectomy surgeons removed three tumours and further cancer specks, plus some lymph nodes from her right breast. However, specialists soon discovered a second type of breast cancer in the tissue they removed, plus specks in her other breast.

The star was advised to have chemotherapy, but her first reaction was to refuse it. “I thought that’s Strictly with a partner wiped out, that’s my hair gone, that’s my life gone,” she said.

Now after her series of ups and downs, she has finally rung the chemotherapy bell.

She also celebrated the news with a pampering session at a local spa – toasting the future with a cocktail.
