Tragic dad Andrew’s charity walk to help other children

Project keeps beloved kids’ memory alive

A DAD whose wife killed their three children has launched a charity walk in their names to help kids across Ireland.

Andrew Mcginley’s children Conor, nine, Darragh, seven, and Carla, who was three, were all suffocated in their Dublin home in 2020 by Deirdre Morley.

She was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.

Grieving dad Andrew set up charity As Darragh Did, Youtube channel Conor’s Clips and Carla’s colouring competition snowmanforcarla.ie.

After several months of planning, he is now staging the first annual Walking the

Walk with the As Darragh Did charity fundraiser next month.

He told the Irish Mirror: “As Darragh Did is a charity and is one of the projects I set up in memory of Conor, Darragh, and Carla.

“Conor wanted a You Tube channel, so

I created Conor’s Clips. Carla wanted a snowman, so the Snowman for Clara colouring competition happens every November and December.

“The As Darragh Did charity funds community clubs and groups to help get people involved as Darragh did because he was involved in everything. He was in the local GAA, hurling and football, as well as soccer and the local drama club.

“The charity is to help people in the community to get involved, as Darragh Did. Darragh always said, ‘If you want to talk the talk, you need to walk the walk’.

“This event has been something I’ve wanted to do to for a while, celebrating Darragh, Conor and Carla.

“The 60kms walk is happening along the Royal Canal on April 20 and 21. Darragh’s 12th birthday is April 19.

“If anyone would like to take part, we’d ask them to register on the asdarraghdid.ie website so we can see how much marshalling we need.”
