Hughie breaks silence over ‘brawl’ at pub
HUGHIE Maughan has finally responded to his alleged involvement in a shocking brawl over the weekend.
On Monday we exclusively revealed the 29-year-old, who shot to fame on Big Brother, was arrested following the incident outside a pub on the Main Street of Blanchardstown, West Dublin, in the early hours of Saturday.
He was then charged in relation to a public order allegation but won’t appear in court until later this month.
Maughan did not respond to several queries from this paper on Sunday – but yesterday he finally issued a brief no comment to us.
FILMED
“I don’t have any comment,” Maughan said in a text message.
Part of the incident was filmed and spread on social media on Sunday showing a topless Hughie apparently engaged in a verbal and physical dispute with another male.
Gardai are seen attempting to keep the men apart as others, including two women are seen watching on.
Maughan is allegedly seen shouting and screaming at a number of individuals before walking on to the road and being told, “Hughie get off the road”.
He’s then seen returning to the group before appearing to get involved in a physical altercation before gardai break it up.
Hughie and another man are seen engaged in a scrap before a garda tells both men to get on the ground.
Gardai said: “Gardai attended the scene of a public order incident which occurred on Main St, Blanchardstown, on Saturday 2nd March 2024 at approximately 3.40am.
“Three people (two males and a female all aged in their 20s) were arrested and detained at a Garda station in the North Dublin area pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
“They have since been charged, and are expected to appear before Blanchardstown District Court on March 26 at 10.30am.”
