CHRIS Martin and Dakota Johnson are set to marry after six years together.

The Coldplay singer, 47, proposed to the Hollywood actress and has the full blessing of his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their children Apple, 19, and Moses, 17.

A source said: “The couple got engaged a while ago and have kept the news private.

“But now they are being open about it within their circles.

“They have been besotted with each other from day one, so taking this next step was inevitable.

“They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official.”

Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota – daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith – was seen wearing an emerald green ring on her wedding finger at her 34th birthday in Los Angeles last October.

News of their engagement comes as the actress, who has rarely spoken about their relationship, gave an interview in which she opened up and admitted she “really wants to experience” motherhood.

MAGICAL

Speaking about being a stepmother to Apple and Moses, Dakota told Bustle magazine: “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.

“How do I feel about motherhood? I’m so open to that. I’ve gotten to as place where I really want to experience everything life has to offer.

“And especially being a woman, I’m like: ‘What a magical thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.

“If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it.

“We’re not here for very long, so if I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on.”

Dakota and Chris began seeing each other in 2017, a year after the musician “consciously uncoupled” from wife Gwyneth.

Gwyneth, 51, posted a snap of herself holding hands with Dakota last year.

Asked about the reaction to it, Dakota went on: “I’m glad there was that positive reaction.

“I grew up in a family that was so big, and I just believe in the saying ‘blood is thicker than water’.

“No matter how f***ed up it is, or who’s in rehab, or who’s not speaking to whom, or who’s divorcing whom, we’re family.

family, it’s really real.” Speaking about her life with Chris, Dakota told how the pair “live way out by the beach in Malibu”, adding: “I need to be in nature.”

And she told how she would watch the Clocks singer perform “every day” if she could, saying: “I feel like I’m watching my most favourite being do his most favourite thing.

things it is sexy. Except being a dictator.” Chris and Dakota first went public with their relationship in October 2017, when they were spotted on a date in a Los Angeles sushi restaurant.

Almost a year later, Dakota confirmed their romance in a magazine interview, saying: “I’m not going to talk about it but I’m very happy.”

In 2020, Gwyneth also opened up about how she had been welcomed into their family, saying: “I love her.

I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional.

“I just adore her. I always think in terms of the ampersand sign – what else can you bring in instead of being resistant?”

Dakota collaborated with Coldplay on their video for Cry, Cry, Cry – which she pitched an idea for and directed. And in 2021, Chris dedicated the song Universe to her at a gig, telling the crowd: “This is about my universe, and she’s here.”

Later that year, Dakota told a magazine: “We’ve been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cosy and private.

“Most of the partying takes place in my house.”
