Brute who attacked sex worker found dead in cell
A THUG who attacked a sex worker with a knife was found dead in his prison cell yesterday.
It is suspected evil chef Danilo De Silva, 43, died in his sleep of natural causes at Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison.
An investigation has been launched by the Irish Prison Service, Inspector of Prisons and gardai.
A statement said: “The Irish Prison Service can confirm the death of a prisoner in custody at Mountjoy Prison.
“It will be investigated by the IPS, the Inspector of Prisons, the Garda and the cause of death will be determined by the coroner’s court.”
THROAT
Vile De Silva was jailed in 2022 for three years after Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard about the frenzied attack in which he was shouting at the woman “like a crazy man” to give him money.
The woman said De Silva struck the knife at her head and throat – but she managed to shield the blows using her hand.
When gardai arrived at the scene, the palm of her hand had a large cut and was covered in blood.
De Silva had fled but was later arrested.
The woman also sustained a small cut to her face.
In her victim impact statement, she said she has struggled with anxiety and fear since the attack.
In June 2021 De Silva of Jigginstown, Naas, Co Kildare, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to the woman at her home in Clondalkin in November 2020.
Garda Alan Lagrue told Aideen Collard BL, prosecuting, that the victim was operating as a sex worker at the apartment.
De Silva arrived by appointment, and they had consensual sex after which De Silva produced the large knife.
The court heard he had previously worked as a professional chef but was out of work at the time.
