Madge: I spoke to God.. like a prayer

-

Madonna believes she spoke to God when she woke up from a coma.

Doctors put the pop legend, 65, into a coma while they battled to save her from a severe bacterial infection last summer.

One of the medical professionals who helped her Live to Tell her tale, Dr David Agus, attended her gig in Los Angeles this week, where she praised her treatment – and revealed she believes she was being called to the Pearly Gates.

“When I woke up, the first word I said was ‘no,’” she revealed. “That’s what my assistant tells me.

“And I’m pretty sure that God was saying to me, ‘Do you wanna come with us? You wanna come with me? You wanna go this way?’ And

I said: ‘No. No... NO!” Describing her “near-death experience”, she went on to shout out to “a very special man”, Dr Agus, who she described as patient and kind.

She noted that she called him every day with an eagerness to get back on her feet and told of her “endless complaining”, so he sounds like he deserves his praise.

The Like a Prayer star added: “All he would say was, ‘Go outside in the sun. You need vitamin D so your kidneys will keep working’.”

However, she then quipped: “Have you seen my skin? I hate the sun, but I did it anyway, and it was so hard. It was a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control. That was my lesson to let go.”

She didn’t let go for very long though, as the illness caused her to postpone her Celebration tour by just a few months.

She said her manager asked her when she planned to resume her dates while she was still in her hospital bed.

“I took the oxygen out of my nose, I looked at him, and I said, ‘In two f ****** months!’” she said.

“I have fallen off a lot of horses and broken a lot of bones, I have a titanium hip,” she went on.

“But nothing can stop me.”

Very glad to hear it, Madge.
