Reddy or not for hottest new look

-

We’re seeing red when it comes to make-up. Yes, one of the year’s top trending looks so far sees lips, eyes and cheeks hotting up in various shades of crimson.

Stemming from the high fashion runways, it’s a social media hit, with the hashtag #redlips garnering over 378K videos on Tiktok so far.

And Simone Otis, make-up artist for 19/99 Beauty, can’t get enough.

“A pop of red suits all skin tones and offers a bold statement without being overly complicated, making it accessible for make-up enthusiasts of all levels,” she says.

Here’s how to hot things up…

THE EYES HAVE IT

“Try a red eyeliner, or a wash of burgundy over the eyelids. Swap black or brown eyeshadow for a bronze with a red undertone,” says Simone.

Try:

■ Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara in Burgundy Haze, (Boots), is a subtle way to play with the red trend, and a fun alternative to your regular black lashes.

■ Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette, (John Lewis), contains a plethora of fiery shadow shades you can try out.

CHEEK POP

“Red on the cheeks is a great way that you can give life to the face – try a cream cheek colour that you can dab on and build the colour,” says Simone.

Try:

■ Victoria Beckham

Cheeky Posh in Fever, (victoriabeckham beauty.com), is a buildable, blendable cream blush that effortlessly adds a flush of rouge to the complexion (eyes, and lips too).

■ Refy Cream Blush in

Cherry, (refybeauty.com), is a deep red, which looks great on darker skin tones. Press on to the apples of your cheeks for a pop of colour.

KISS KISS

“Try a clay red or sheer dark wine shade to mix up your usual go-to colour. A true and bright red worn with an otherwise bare face looks fab,” says Simone.

Try:

■ Ruby Hammer Lip

Serum Balm in Red, (rubyhammer.com), is a hybrid of skincare and make-up, leaving lips (and eyes and cheeks) washed with colour and moisturised.

■ Merit Signature Lip Matte in Vermillion, (meritbeauty. com), is a warm red with a modern, softly blurred finish.
