IT’S JUST A MOTHER MANIC SUNDAY

THE Rangers support gave up Sunday dinner with their old dears to see Dujon Sterling and Ross Mccausland become the latest additions to the mother of all injury lists.

But they’ll be content to continue playing happy families with daddy cool Philippe Clement (right) leading the way back to Hampden.

The same is unlikely to be said for the Hibs faithful where Jordan Obita and Nathan Moriah-welsh are concerned. Their side might have been trailing after John Lundstram gobbled up the rebound when David Marshall clawed out a James Tavernier penalty. But they were right in the fight heading into the final 25 minutes. That was until first Obita and then Moriah-welsh let their team down badly by getting themselves sent-off two minutes apart.

Both should expect a lengthy spell on boss Nick Montgomery’s naughty step. Fabio Silva’s fourth goal since signing in January booked Rangers’ place in the semi-final. Ibrox gaffer Clement was furious with the tackles and insisted John Lundstram was lucky to avoid serious injury after being caught by Moriah-welsh’s “reckless” lunge at Easter Road.

Referee Steven Mclean was quick to take firm action as he immediately flashed red at the Guyana international just two minutes after the hosts had also seen Obita dismissed for a second yellow. But Clement - who also accused Motherwell’s Dan Casey of kicking Ross Mccasuland out of last week’s league clash at Ibrox - reckons Scottish football needs to do more to stamp out high-risk challenges.

The Gers boss said: “The tackle was a few yards away from me. It is a reckless tackle with the studs in front and it doesn’t matter then if you break a leg or not. It is reckless.

“I think it’s important to get that kind of tackle out of the game.”

Clement will find out who his side face in the semi-final when the draw is made after tonight’s quarterfinal between Hearts and Morton.
