CHARLES Spencer, the brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, has revealed their childhood nanny would “crack our heads together” if they misbehaved.

Speaking to the BBC’S Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme about his upbringing after he said the punishment would be a “cracking crunch” that “really hurt”.

The earl, 59, said: “She used to crack our heads together, if we were both found to have done something naughty, obviously without my father’s knowledge, but it really hurt.

“It wasn’t a tap on the wrist, it was a cracking crunch, you know, and I remember it still.

“It was just normal, you leave it to the nanny to deal with this.”

Around 10 years ago the building next door became vacant after the previous owners left and fell into disrepair.

Irene said: “They love their house and really do not want to move.

“It is unfortunate that they live next to a dangerous derelict building.

“We live in a small seaside town, it is such a beautiful town but it has been in decline for many years now.

“One of the consequences of that is derelict buildings.”

Irene claims her dad Thomas has been going to the local council for years but nothing has been done.

She said: “In January 2023, after years of my father trying to get action I decided to get something done.”

Irene isn’t just concerned about her parent’s safety but the surrounding area if the property were to collapse.

She said: “Because I have come to the end of the road, I put a post on Facebook to highlight the issue.

“The support we got from the town was incredible, I can’t tell you how many people have contacted us.

“It is why we have started this petition to get action.

“All we want is that work is done on the property so it is made safe.

“You can’t have a building without a roof because the internal walls become water logged and the building will eventually fall.”

The council was asked for comment.

The property owner has been contacted and didn’t want to comment.
