Tractor Boy to Reggae Boy... big decisions loom for Omari

- BY JON WEST

OMARI HUTCHINSON has some big decisions to make this summer.

The toughest is whether he goes back to Chelsea and tries to make it at Stamford Bridge.

The alternative is going out on loan again, with Ipswich keen to welcome him back to Portman Road – especially if they are in the Premier League.

Then there is the international question – England or

Jamaica? The 20-year-old has put both on hold to concentrate on helping Kieran Mckenna’s Tractor Boys gain promotion, which he is doing in style.

With two goals, one assist, and a huge part in another of Town’s six goals, he was too much to handle for relegation-haunted Wednesday.

Hutchinson, 20, replaced the injured Conor Chaplin in the No.10 role and excelled from the first kick.

Was that his best game in an Ipswich shirt? “Most definitely,” he said. “It was enjoyable to play in. The manager told me: ‘When you play just enjoy, entertain the crowd and play your best’.”

Hutchinson opened the scoring on the turn despite a heavy touch in the penalty box, with defender Cameron

Burgess doubling the lead after Kieffer

Moore’s header thumped the bar.

Nathan Broadhead made it 3-0 from substitute Kayden Jackson’s cross in first-half stoppage time and after the break it was the Hutchinson (below) show.

He smashed in his second goal three minutes in to cap a superb passing move and then set up sub Ali Alhamadi for two tap-ins at the death.

The win tightened the two-fromthree battle for automatic promotion between Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich – but whatever happens it has been a real breakthrough season for Hutchinson, who has one year left on his Chelsea contract.

Back to Portman Road and more time under Mckenna (below)? “I don’t know the answer to that, but maybe,” he said. “I hope so, why not? We’ll see in the summer what’s the right move and decision.” Hutchinson has already played two friendlies for Jamaica, the country of dad Leon’s birth, and was selected for an England age-group squad this month.

“I want to leave internationals out for this season and focus on getting promotion,” he said.

Second-bottom Wednesday have only one thing on their minds – to beat the drop into League One.

The Owls were outclassed at Portman Road but are still within touching distance of a cluster of relegation rivals. It could go to the final game.

“If you are asking whether I wish that, then no,” said manager Danny Rohl.

“But if we go to the last matchday with a chance to stay in the league then I will certainly take it.”
