Set the reffing alarm!

- BY CRAIG SWAN

CHRIS SUTTON has savaged referee Don Robertson after the late cancellation of Rangers’ game at Dundee.

The former Celtic striker insists it is outrageous that the match official was only in place less than two hours before scheduled noon kick-off to decide.

Sutton says the farcical nature of events leaves the Scottish Premiership looking like a Mickey

Mouse league.

The Ibrox club were fuming at postponement which means they head into the international break a point behind Celtic at the top of the table.

Sutton is also adamant that the lack of swifter action has shown pure disdain for supporters of the Scottish game.

Sutton was at Dens Park before 9am and aware that a pitch inspection was being undertaken by a local referee at 9.15am.

There were serious concerns for the fixture at that point, but it was over an hour later before Robertson made the official decision.

Sutton says that is inexcusable and blasted: “It’s a complete embarrassment. Don says it was an easy decision. So why on earth could it not have been made earlier?

“The amateur referee at 9.15am had a look and had concerns. Then they had to wait for Don to turn up and he rocks up about an hour later.

“Don, or any match referee, should be at a stadium at least three hours before kick-off.

“Why is he even thinking about rocking up to the ground less than two hours before? What’s the problem with being earlier? We all have to get up early sometimes.

“Good lord, he’s the match referee. Only the most important individual at a game before it kicks-off and the only one who can call it off? And he gets there two hours before.”
