Firefighter charged with rape on US St Pat’s trip
Irishman held after boarding plane
AN Irish firefighter charged with raping a woman in Boston while part of an official St Patrick’s Day delegation to the US has been placed on leave while Dublin Fire Brigade conducts an internal investigation.
Terence Crosbie, 37, from the capital, was brought before Boston Municipal Court on Monday charged with raping the woman at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Suffolk County last Friday.
He was arrested after allegedly boarding a flight in Logan International Airport on Saturday night, three days before he was actually due to return to Dublin, US investigators claim.
State police stopped the plane and removed him, US media reports.
He had been interviewed by police earlier in the day.
Mr Crosbie was part of an official delegation of Dublin Fire Brigade officers who travelled to the US for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Prosecutors say the 28-year-old alleged victim told police she had been assaulted at the Omni Parker House Hotel on Friday morning.
It is alleged surveillance video showed Crosbie and the complainant at the hotel and the Black Rose bar on State Street Thursday evening, according to the district attorney’s office.
Crosbie was brought before Boston Municipal Court on Monday and was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
He was ordered to surrender his passport and not leave Massachusetts and he is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on April 16. Yesterday,
Dublin Fire Brigade said an internal investigation has been launched and they say they are cooperating with US law officials.
In a statement, DFB said said: “Dublin Fire
