Price: Pete was my only real marriage
As the old saying goes, one out of three ain’t bad.
Thrice wed Katie Price believes her union with Peter Andre was her only “real” marriage, as she considers the other two to be just rebounds
The 45-year-old says: “I’m absolutely exhausted with relationships.
“I’m exhausted with the marriages, although the first one, Pete, I’d like to say it was real.”
Katie and Aussie singer Peter, 51, met in the jungle while filming I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in 2004, where the nation watched them fall in love before they wed a year later in a €1million ceremony that was televised.
“But everything we did was on TV, magazines, because we had the same management,” continues Katie. “To me that’s not real marriage.”
Yet despite going on to marry Alex Reid in 2010 for a year, and a 2013 marriage to Kieran Hayler that lasted eight years, she does not consider them genuine – something she is now discussing with her therapist.
“The second ones I just think were just rebounds,” she
admits. “And I know it’s awful to say, but they were. I just rushed them because I just wanted that married life back. Living with someone, having the life with the kids because that’s what I had with Pete.
“And then relationships I’ve had after, it’s just, they just end up being the same.
“So now in therapy, we talk about what are the patterns that go on.”
Now dating Married at First Sight star JJ Slater, 31, Katie tells the How To Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast she is now scared of relationships, and has been left “traumatised and tormented” by men.
Katie shares two of her five children, Junior, 18, and Princess, 16, with Peter. She is also mum to Jett, 10, and Bunny, nine, with Kieran, plus Harvey, 21, from a relationship with former footballer Dwight Yorke.
Peter’s wife Emily Macdonagh is expecting the couple’s third child together.
