Mum’s sex scene felt normal.. I don’t know what it says about us
Liz Hurley’s son Damian on directing her in racy clinch for her latest film
LIZ Hurley thrusts her head back as though in ecstasy during a lesbian sex scene in her latest movie. All in a day’s work. Nothing unusual there.
What is unusual – some might say weird – is that the person behind the camera directing the action was Liz’s 21-year-old son Damian.
Most 21-year-old boys will not even stay in the same room as their mother if a sex scene comes on the telly.
But for Damian getting his 58-yearold mum in position for a clinch with Pear Chiravara in his film Strictly
Confidential was fine.
He told The Sunday
Times: “I hate to say that felt totally normal.
“I don’t know what that says about us.” What it makes most people say, Damian, is... ew, just ew.
But he has canvassed his friends and they are fine with it, too. Damian said: “I was speaking to a lot of my friends who are also second generation of parents in the industry. They say exactly the same thing – that things to outsiders that may seem totally strange and extraordinary, for us we’ll just have grown up with.”
Damian’s dad, producer Steve Bing, who died in 2020 aged 55, was not part of his life, which made him and Liz closer. He said: “We’re like siblings. When it’s just two of you, any farce of ‘I’m the parent, you’re the child, I’m going to tell you off ’ goes out the window.”
Speaking about the movie in Vogue, Liz said: “The fact that Damian would be my director in those scenes – which isn’t something you think is very likely to happen in your career – I found it was the most comfortable I’ve ever been in an intimate scene.
“I think it was liberating, in a way, to know that he had my back. There was nothing gratuitous.”
Of the trend for hiring intimacy coordinators, she said: “Our budget couldn’t run to that, unfortunately.”
