Idah vows to dish out more punishment at Parkhead

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

ADAM IDAH insists Celtic will be ready to rock against Rangers when they get the Ibrox side back to Parkhead.

The Hoops hitman was minutes away from becoming a derby hero when he fired his side 3-2 up on Sunday.

Rabbi Matondo’s stoppagetime stunner salvaged a point for Gers and set up another blockbuster across the city after the split.

Idah was blown away by his first taste of the derby at Ibrox and is already counting down the days to the next instalment at Celtic Park.

The Republic of Ireland striker admitted: “I was disappointed to not get the winner but we got a point and we’re happy. It was frustrating not to get all three points but the boys dug in, performed well and we still have to play them at home.”

Idah admitted it was a crazy clash in Govan but hailed the Hoops squad for getting out with the title still in their own hands. Gers could move two points clear with a win in their game in hand tomorrow but Celtic are set to have four home matches left in their remaining six fixtures, including the final league derby.

Idah has notched six goals for Celts since his loan switch from Norwich in January – with half of them coming in the final five minutes. He said: “I’ve managed to get a couple of late goals this season for Norwich and Celtic. I always try to do my best for the team. The boys were excellent from start to finish and to get the early goal was amazing. What the boys did without any Celtic fans was fantastic.”

Meanwhile, former Celtic defender Mark Wilson reckons Brendan Rodgers’ (below) Old Firm dominance can be the deciding factor in coming out on top in the title race.

He said: “I’d rather be in Celtic’s position knowing Rangers have to come here and get a result and seeing how those games have gone.

“Brendan’s been an incredibly difficult manager to beat for Rangers and he’s had a fair few of them. Rangers fans like Philippe Clement, he does look the real deal, but he’s had two cracks at Rodgers and failed to beat him.”
