WITH her first big-screen starring role in the bag, Zendaya looks every inch the glamorous A-lister.

But the former Disney child star, 27, has revealed she has struggled with her confidence in the past and is concerned about the effect fame could have on her family when she has children. The actress says her fears have made her question if she wants to stay in the public eye for the rest of her life.

She says: “I don’t necessarily want my kids to have to deal with this [ fame].

“And what does my future look like? Am I going to be a public-facing person for ever?”

She explains that in the future she wants “a safe and protected life with my family and not be worried if I’m not delivering something all the time, or not giving all the time, that everything’s going to go away. I think that’s always been a massive anxiety of mine: this idea people will just be like, ‘actually, I’m over you now because you’re boring’.”

Zendaya, a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews, says she would like to have kids one day but is in no rush.

TENSE

She has been dating Brit actor Tom Holland since 2021 after meeting him on the set of Spider-man: Homecoming five years earlier.

Discussing how he dealt with fame, she says: “I watched his life change in front of him. He handled it beautifully.”

On being asked for selfies by fans, she says: “You kind of get used to the fact, ‘Oh, I’m also one of these art pieces you’re going to take a picture of ’. I just gotta be totally cool with it.”

Zendaya says her lead role in new rom-com Challengers was daunting.

She tells British Vogue: “When I have these moments, like my first time leading a film, I feel like I shrink, I can’t enjoy all the things happening to me.

“I’m very tense and I think I carry that from being a kid and never really having an opportunity to try s***.”

The May issue of British Vogue is available via digital download and on newsstands from Tuesday, April 23.
