There’s loads of work, I may as well do it as my own business
BIKINI queen Pamela Ryan has set up a “cage girl” modelling agency to cater for the demand at Irish fighting events.
Cage girls – named after the octagon where Mixed Martial Arts fights take place – add glamour to boxing, MMA and kickboxing events.
Pamela works as one herself – and was inundated with jobs at
MMA and boxing rings.
She wanted other
Irish girls to get in on the modelling work that has come from the explosion of combat sports here.
Pamela told the Irish Mirror:
“There’s no agency in Dublin run by someone who’s done it all and been there.
“My new agency, PR Model Management, will be the go-to place for hiring cage girls. There are so many events and new promotional companies starting up, looking for
girls – there’s a huge niche. Clients for MMA and boxing who are looking for cage girls are finding models from outside Ireland – but there is so much talent here. They’re getting girls in from the UK but that doesn’t seem right when there are so many here.
“I get asked to do so many jobs here and abroad – and I have to turn them down and end up finding girls for clients I know on Instagram. “I thought if I’m doing it anyway and there’s loads of work, I may as well do it as my own business.”
Dubliner Pamela, 31, will be the sole manager to her models but also provide a bespoke service to clients. Pamela, a former Miss Bikini Ireland, works for an IT software company by day but also as a ring and cage girl. For the past 13 years, she has modelled in the ring for top brands such as Conor Mcgregor’s Forged Irish Stout, Monster Energy and Bellator around Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Pamela revealed she has Longford star Maura Higgins to thank for getting her foot in the door.
She said: “Maura was on my Facebook and was working for Monster and asked me could I do a Monster job at Mondello Park.
“A month later we worked together in Belfast at an event and she told me she was thinking of going into Love Island.
“After that, she was gone and everything happened for her. I wouldn’t be doing this without Maura. I always send her messages and we follow each other.”
