Swifties Never Ever getting a good deal for Dublin dates

- BY CIARA O’LOUGHLIN Taylor Swift

AS Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour kicks off its European leg next month, Irish Swifties will have to start pinching their pennies.

A night out at the show may cost concert-goers more than expected, as Dublin has been ranked the third most expensive European city to attend the gig.

According to research by Jeffbet, the Irish capital is only cheaper than Zurich and Amsterdam to attend the gig out of 18 European cities. It didn’t take ticket prices into account but looked at how much the average cost for a night in a hotel, a meal in a mid-range restaurant, and a five-mile taxi ride is in each city.

It found the average cost in Dublin for one night in a hotel is €120.57, a meal is €19.90, and a taxi €17.56, totalling €158.03 per person. Dublin was in third place with London, which had an average cost of €115.89 for a TOURING room, €21.70 for food and €21.07 for a taxi. The We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together popstar, 34, will be performing at the Aviva Stadium on June 28 and 29. Independent TD Thomas Pringle told the Dail in June there was no hotel room available in the capital for less than €350 on these nights.

He added: “As if that isn’t expensive enough, we have in recent days seen rampant price

gouging from Dublin hotels, some raising the price of a room from €359 to an incredible €999 for the night of the concert, and this was before the tickets have even been released.”

On Booking.com the cheapest room available in a hotel in Dublin city centre for June 28 or 29 is €366.

According to the website, 80% of rooms in the capital have already been booked for these dates.

Cheaper options are available, including hostel beds from €80 in a mixed dorm.
