A TEENAGER sobbed as she told how Madeleine Mccann suspect Christian Brueckner exposed himself to her in a playground when she was 11.
The youngster fled in panic to her father, who said he ran to grab the convicted paedophile and found him pretending to make a phone call with a pack of cigarettes.
Brueckner, who is on trial for a string of sex attacks in Portugal, allegedly pulled down his trousers close to where children were playing in the Algarve town of
Sao Bartolomeu de
Messines in 2017.
With tears rolling down her cheeks, the woman, now 18, told the court she later realised that
Brueckner had been performing a sex act.
She said: “I ran straight to my father. I told him what had happened. My father spoke with another man and they rang the police.”
The teen added that she had heard about the Madeleine case after Brueckner was arrested from an account on TV in
Portugal. Her father, a 53-year-old electrician, said: “I went across to the man. I asked him what he was doing and he did not answer and gave me no reason for being there so I called the police. He was about 50 metres away.
“When I got there, he was pretending to make a call using a packet of cigarettes. I spoke to him in Portuguese and he tried to speak English.
“I called the police and I grabbed him, held him there until they came. We did not

Officers arrived and spoke about Brueckner being involved in “other incidents of paedophilia”, he told the court via videolink.
The report was made at a playground in the town centre, where parents were sitting as their children played in the evening.
The dad said a work colleague assisted him in guarding Brueckner, who did not try to escape. Brueckner is on trial in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany where he had been living prior to his arrest. He is alleged to have carried out five offences in the Algarve, including the rape of Irish tour rep Hazel Behan in her apartment in Praia da Rocha in 2004.
The German is also charged with raping a teenage girl in his Praia da Luz home and raping an elderly woman in her holiday apartment.
Brueckner is also accused of exposing himself to a German girl on a beach in Salema in April 2007. The 47-yearold is serving seven years in jail for a rape in Portugal in 2005. He denies any involvement in the disappearance of threeyear-old Madeleine who was in her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz when she vanished on May 3, 2007.
Her parents had been dining in a tapas restaurant at the time.
Brueckner’s trial is due to continue in Braunschweig regional court next week.
