I said, ‘You can dedicate your song to me like I did for you’

ROSANNA Davison revealed she asked her famous dad Chris de Burgh to compete in Dancing With The Stars – but he looked at her “as if I was mental”.

The former Miss World made her father proud when she performed a rumba to his classic hit Lady In Red.

She said she would love to see her 75-year-old father join the show next year but he isn’t too keen.

The mum-of-three added: “I tried to convince him a few weeks ago and he looked at me as if I was mental.

“I was like, ‘You can dedicate your dance to me the way I did to you and I can sit in the audience.’

“But he was laughing at even the idea of it so I don’t think he’ll be signing up for it any time soon. He’s so busy anyway but I just thought it would be funny if he gave it a go.”

Despite being kicked off halfway through the series, Rosanna – who turned 40 yesterday – said she was delighted to have more time for her kids Sophia, four, and three-year-old twins Hugo and Oscar.

Rosanna said: “I wasn’t able to give anything to them. I was just putting them to bed, getting them up in the morning for school and not spending quality time with them. I could see the difference in their behaviour, they were asking where I was.

“So I was really happy to get back to them and get back to normal family life. My husband was amazing though – he just took over all the responsibilities.” Rosanna added the experience was great for her confidence and she has enrolled Sophia in dance classes as there are “so many benefits”.

She said: “I never would’ve believed I’d have the confidence to dance in front of anybody, let alone a live TV audience.

“It was life-changing. It was great fun and we met a great group of people. I’d do it again in a heartbeat, despite how intense it was.

“I signed Sophia up to dance classes because she sings a lot and loves performing. It’s great for confidence and mental and physical health. “There are a lot of benefits that come with learning to dance and even if she just enjoys it as a hobby I wanted to get her started early.”

Rosanna was speaking in her role as ambassador for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. Its biggest annual fundraising day, 65 Roses Day, took place last week and the charity continues to take donations on its website.

This year, the CFI focused on raising awareness and funds for those with the chronic condition struggling with fertility issues.

Rosanna said the cause is close to her heart, as she had her own long and difficult fertility journey, having 14 miscarriages before welcoming her daughter Sophia via surrogacy.

She added: “I appreciate that surrogacy and IVF are expensive and difficult routes for a lot of people but at least they are out there.”
