A flying and age-defying Scotsman

- JAMES

THE old boys are not done with this sport yet.

Gary Anderson (top) proved that last weekend when he won a European Tour event.

Although I would like to say that at 41 years old I am practically a baby compared to Gary – I hope he’s not reading this – in darting terms we are the old guard when you pit us against the new generation.

Gary proved that class is permanent with some of the displays he turned in.

Well done to him. The Flying Scotsman is back and I really hope to be following his lead again soon.

Last week I said the Premier League looked impossible to call – and so it turned out. Every game last week was like a rollercoaster.

Michael van Gerwen has always liked to make a point of winning the league table ahead of the play-offs, but that is looking a long way off this year with the form of the two Lukes at the top.

Luke Littler takes on Gerwyn Price (above) in his quarter-final this week and, although I am surprised to say this, it’s vitally important for Gezzy. If he loses, the writing could well be on the wall for him.

He doesn’t seem to be playing badly, but he is not getting the results – I can relate to that right now – and it looks increasingly hard for him to make the top four.

Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall is the fixture of the night. Both of them are in top form and I think the winner of the whole night will come from this one.

Michael Smith takes on Rob Cross which will be particularly interesting, with Smith definitely showing some of the form close to what made him world champion 18 months ago.
