NOAH TO TIGERS’ RESCUE

Coventry 2 Hull 3

-

NOAH OHIO heaped more woe on Coventry City after making the most of a crazy Sky Blues mix-up.

The Hull City substitute (above) kept the Tigers’ play-off hopes alive with his first touch of the ball after 78 minutes.

He had only been on the field for two minutes when Coventry defender Bobby Thomas under-hit a back pass to keeper Brad Collins and Frenchman Ohio nipped in to score the crucial winner.

It meant that after the disappointment of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United, the Sky Blues’ hopes of making the top six are now all but finished.

Thomas looked as though he had made sure Coventry bounced back from Sunday’s misery with a point.

Hull twice took the lead through Jaden Philogene and a controversial Fabio Carvalho penalty. Philogene’s goal was also gifted after Collins fumbled the shot over the line.

But a spectacular freekick from Kasey Palmer and Thomas’ second goal of the season brought Coventry level each time.

Coventry pushed for a winner but Ohio had other ideas.

Hull took the lead after 31 minutes with Philogene grabbing his 12th goal of the season.

But Coventry levelled five minutes later through Palmer.

The game boiled over on the stroke of half-time as the Tigers were awarded a penalty.

Referee Leigh Doughty pointed to the spot when Liam Delap was brought down by Joel

Latibeaudiere.

Coventry claimed it was outside the area.

But Liverpool loanee Carvalho fired his penalty into the top corner before Thomas equalised after 59 minutes.

Then Ohio stepped up to win it.
