Depends where you are.. I’m always just happy to be recognised CHRIS WALLEY YESTERDAY

THE first pics from the new series of Young Offenders have been released with the loveable rogues again finding themselves on the wrong side of the law.

The coming-of-age series follows the escapades of Conor (Alex Murphy) and Jock (Chris Walley) as they navigate their awkward teenage years, romance and school.

The show also stars Hilary Rose, Demi Isaac Oviawe, Jennifer Barry, PJ Gallagher and Shane Casey.

It has proved a massive success not only in Ireland and the UK, but around the world. Despite the last season airing in 2020, 6.3 million people watched the comedy on BBC iplayer in 2023.

It will return to our screens very

soon, as The Young Offenders have announced an air date for its fourth series.

The Cork comedy’s latest series is set to air on BBC One on May 10 at 9.20pm.

It will not be on RTE however until 2025, with reports saying it is part of the public broadcaster’s cost-cutting measures.

Creator Peter Foott said while they’ve changed things up a bit, the show is “still true to its roots”.

He added: “We wanted to give the fans the same mix of funny storylines that are also heartfelt, so it’s very much the same show with all the cast returning.

“Everyone involved is delighted with series four and we can’t wait for people to see it and be back in

the world of The Young Offenders.”

Last week, star Walley revealed the one city where he always gets recognised in and it’s not Cork.

While he is not filming his character, he lets his hair grow curly, a stark contrast to Jock’s cropped “scut cut”.

But even that cannot stop him from being recognised as he revealed: “It depends, less so now. Depends where you are.

“I find actually I get recognised most up in Belfast. They love it up there.

“I’m always just so happy to be recognised. And even still it’s been so long since the last season was out so we’ll see what happens when the new ones come out again.”

He was delighted to be back working on Young Offenders, adding: “We’re basically like a family so to get the band back together is always just a joy, to spend time with everyone, just have a lovely time.”

Chris will next be seen in Bodkin, a new Netflix show that was the first scripted drama produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground productions.
