Reds fake injuries, says Roo
WAYNE ROONEY accused Manchester United players of feigning injury in an explosive attack on Erik ten Hag’s squad.
United legend Rooney claimed some of Ten Hag’s sidelined players are able to play but have chosen to hide away and save themselves for the FA Cup final and Euro 2024.
Ten Hag currently has 11 players out through injury, including skipper Bruno Fernandes, England forward Marcus Rashford, and £60million summer signing Mason Mount.
Although he did not name individuals, Rooney
said some of those currently out are able to play but have chosen to declare themselves unfit to avoid the flak that has come United’s way.
“There are some very good players in that squad and the performances are way below par,” said Rooney. “Look at the injuries they have picked up. Some of those players can play – 100 percent.
“Because they’re getting a little bit of stick, it’s easy for players to stay out of it a little bit and then come back towards the final, and get themselves fit for the European Championship.
“I’ve seen it myself over the years. I just think the players who have been injured are not filling themselves with any credit and the manager is going to take all the stick for that.”
Former Red Devils skipper Roy Keane also laid into the current side after defeat yesterday, and said: “Arsenal will be thinking how lucky they were to play such a poor United team.”
