FUTURE PROOF

BRIGHT, SHINY AND optimistic — futuristic glamour meets bold minimalism in H&M Studio’s new autumn collection.

Inspired by fashion’s Space Age and modern missions to Mars, the ‘Neo Real’ edit blurs the lines between reality and fantasy with streamlined silhouettes, gravity-defying fabrics and cutting-edge accessories.

“How to dress for the future? That was the question the H&M Studio team was asking for autumn, as we discussed mankind’s inspiring missions to space,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M.

“We came up with sharp, minimalist silhouettes that feel confidenceboosting thanks to bold, brave shots of colour – we wanted our customers to dare to dream.”

Those shots of colour include punchy neon pink, yellow and green, with sequins and metallic fabrics also upping the futuristic feel-good factor.

“With a moodboard filled with images of space, the design team thought about what to take on an intergalactic trip. We decided on a mix of practical pieces mixed with fabulous items,” adds Linda Wikell, concept designer for H&M Studio.

On the fabulous front, we love the silver number seen left.

Slip dresses are still big news and this one will provide some added sparkle to your new season look.

The sculptural ruffle top, available in black or neon yellow, is another hero buy.

There’s nothing like giant ruffle to add some drama to your silhouette.

An example of the more practical pieces is the monochrome co-ord seen above.

While its graphic print might pack a punch, this sweater and leggings set offers maximum comfort too.

Team it with a pop of colour (as seen here) for maximum impact or wear separately to give your outfit an edge.

The collection is in keeping with H&M’s eco-friendly goals too, with every item made from more sustainably sourced materials including Tencel, recycled polyester, recycled wool and recycled brass.

‘Neo Real’ launches October 13 online and in selected stores nationwide.
