Tsimikas: I won’t let Andy down

- ■■Andy NEWPORT

CELTIC fan Andy Robertson is set to miss out on tonight’s showdown with Rangers — but Kostas Tsimikas has promised the Hoops-daft defender Liverpool won’t let him down.

The Scotland skipper is still struggling with the knee injury that saw him sit out last week’s Nations League triple header.

Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp is preparing to go with his Greek understudy at left-back when they host Gio van Bronckhorst’s side at Anfield tonight.

Tsimikas (right) knows how much Robbo would love to be lining up against his bhoyhood club’s bitter rivals and has vowed to take care of business in his absence.

“First of all, Andy is a very good person and a world class player,” said Tsimikas.

“Whatever I need when I play, he is always there to help me and to show me what I can do better or to help me find where I have to cross.

“Also I help him when I am on the bench and I see the game from outside.

“He is a good guy. We spend time in the dressing room, we always speak about everything and I really thank him for all this.

“Of course it is an important game, even if he wasn’t a Celtic supporter. We want to win this game and the only thing we have to do is be 100 per cent focused and 100 per cent ready to win this game.”

Fight

Tsimikas has struggled to oust Robertson from the Liverpool line-up.

And he’s preparing to have to fight for his seat amongst the substitutes with former Aberdeen starlet Calvin Ramsey back amongst the Reds first-team after a recent injury layoff.

“Calvin is a good lad,” said Tsimikas. “When he came to the team and when he was injured, we spent some time together to learn from him and see what kind of guy he is.

“He will help the team now he is fully fit. I saw him in training and he did very good stuff.

“When you are a good player you can challenge the guy who plays in front of you and I think it will be a good competition.”
