THE Glen have lodged an objection to the result of last Sunday’s All-Ireland final defeat to Kilmacud Crokes at Croke Park.

The Derry side were locked in talks yesterday after GAA chiefs refused to investigate an incident at the end.

Footage showed Kilmacud had 16 players on the field for Glen’s final attack, a short 45 from Danny Tallon, which resulted in Conleth McGuckian firing wide.

UEFA are to draw up guidelines to stop clubs exploiting Financial Fair Play rules by using long-term contracts such as in Chelsea’s deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Blues’ new owners have boosted their spending power by €95m by using such deals in their first eight months in charge.

FFP was introduced to ensure clubs do not spend more money than they are able to earn. Transfer fees are split over the length of a player’s contract when making FFP calculations, with add-ons included as and when they are triggered.

So Mudryk’s €100m move, including a potential €30m in add-ons, from Shakhtar Donetsk goes on this year’s FFP accounts as just €8.2m. Other clubs have balked at Chelsea’s transfer activity in particular, and UEFA will change the accounting rules to insist a transfer is split over a maximum of five years.

Spent

Of the €520m already spent by Todd Boehly and his consortium, €340m has been spent before add-ons on players who have tied themselves to the club for longer than five years, putting

€48m on this year’s FFP balance sheet.

Under the new rules, their spending would have been limited to €242m — €95m less than they have splashed out.

Outgoings in transfers, wages, finance costs, dividends and write-offs from transfers are
