A MAN has been charged with assaulting Matt Hancock on the Tube.

Geza Tarjanyi (61) is accused of three offences relating to the former UK Health Secretary (44).

He was charged with common assault and two public order offences in relation to an incident at Westminster Underground station in London and a nearby street.

Bail

Tarjanyi, of Leyland in Lancashire, was released on bail to appear before Westminster magistrates on February 22.

He was arrested after British Transport Police received reports of a man being “assaulted and harassed” near Parliament.

A spokesman for Mr Hancock praised the actions of Tube staff.

POP star Cheryl believes her dead bandmate Sarah Harding has been in contact with her from beyond the grave.

Cheryl (39), who was in Girls Aloud alongside Sarah, said one of the group’s songs started playing in her car in unexplained circumstances and that she “knew it was from her”.

Sarah died aged 39 in 2021 after battling breast cancer. Former X Factor judge Cheryl, who is starring on stage as a woman who thinks she is being haunted, said she has had “loads” of supernatural encounters. She added: “More recently, a song started playing in my car without my car being switched on to Bluetooth or plugged in.

“It was Hear Me Out by Girls Aloud, which is random because that song...I wouldn’t know where to look for it. But it started playing as I got into the car to go on a long journey.

“Very specific, and Sarah called her book Hear Me Out after that song, so I just knew it was from her.

“I’ve had a lot of occurrences similar to that over the years since I was a kid. The more you believe in that stuff, the more of it you will be sent.”

Fame

Cheryl found fame with Sarah, Derry native Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

After almost a decade of success, Girls Aloud announced they would take a hiatus in 2009 before returning for a reunion in 2013. The group then announced they were splitting for good.

Following Sarah’s death, they reunited at a charity event last year to pay tribute.

The singer, formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy, has just made her debut as a leading actor in 2:22 – A Ghost Story in London’s West End.

Asked about the prospect of new music, she told the Gay Times she would love to work with Kylie Minogue but insisted there was no material close to being released at this stage.

She said: “There’s nothing to talk about! I was in the studio writing stuff and then lockdown happened. I actually enjoyed lockdown a little too much.

“I had me son and it was a really precious time. It was wonderful for me, not having to do anything. And then I kind of fell off. I do have music that was never released from the last album, when I did Let You, that era, but I don’t know if I’ve outgrown it. I’d have to revisit.”
