LAURA Whitmore has announced a new TV role after leaving ITV’s Love Island as host — and a first glimpse of the sitcom got a sneak preview on The One Show on BBC One yesterday.

Laura will star with her Scottish comic husband Iain Stirling in the new show Buffering.

Iain told hosts Jermaine Jenas and Alex Jones: “The great thing about doing a comedy, I guess, is it’s a collaborative effort so everyone was chucking in ideas.

Laura confirmed she was exiting Love Island last year, after the 2022 series. The Bray woman fronted three seasons in three years with Maya Jama now host.

There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed, some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects. I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands.
