MAREE ARE ON TOP IN DERBY
UNIVERSITY of Galway Maree followed up their magnificent Pat Duffy Cup win last week with a 77-65 derby victory over Moycullen In the InsureMyVan Men’s SuperLeague.
Belfast Star edged visiting Killester 90-83.
“It was a game that I was never going to underestimate,” said Maree’s young coach Charlie Crowley.
“They are improving all the time and we hadn’t the best of preparations but we did enough on the night to take the win.”
Killester went to Belfast without Tomaz Fernandez who had to go back to Spain following a family bereavement.
Adrian Fulton’s side had Max Cooper injured early in the game but it didn’t affect his side.
Garvey’s Tralee had a buzzer beater victory against The Emporium Cork Basketball.

John Dawson had but the Cork side into an 87-86 lead with a basket and the bonus but with just two seconds on the clock at the Ballincollig Community School Eoin Quigley scored as the buzzer sounded for a thrilling 88-87 victory.
Elsewhere, Griffith College were 80-72 winners over UCD Marian, Energywise Ireland Neptune trounced Flexacham Killorglin 113-77 and Bright St Vincent’s beat EJ Sligo All Stars.
In the MissQuote Women’s league Trinity Meteors got one up on Killester, winning 66-55, much to the delight of coach Niall Berry.
“I was incredibly proud of how our girls rebounded tonight, not just from last weekend but from a difficult week of evaluating and analysing everything.”
The Address UCC Glanmire had a hard fought 82-74 victory on the road against Leixlip Amenities Liffey Celtics.
“I was pleased how we managed the second half and we got a great spread of scoring especially from the bench again,” said coach Mark Scannell.
