-

ment, the Dearborn, Michigan, company said the price cuts are part of Ford’s plan to keep the SUV competitive in a fast-changing market.

“We are not going to cede ground to anyone,” said Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer of Ford Model e, the company’s electric vehicle unit.

The price of a base rearwheel-drive standard range Mach-E will drop

$900, from $46,895 to

$45,995. The top-end

GT extended range will fall $5,900, from

$69,895 to $63,995.

In Ireland the Mach-E starts at €67,667for the base car, which is generously equipped it must be said, and tops out at €93,838 for the GT, meaning even if discounts are applied here, there is no chance of it being enough to qualify the

Mach-E for the SEAI grant of €5,000 which applies only to vehicles sold at under €60,000 and

over €20,000.

AS PART of its Growth Strategy for 2030, Suzuki has announced that it will introduce its first electric motorcycle in 2024.

The company-wide plan, which includes its passenger car division, will see Suzuki improve its manufacturing processes to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2035, in an effort to do its part for climate change.

Its first fully electric bike will arrive next year, and it will be quickly followed by more models, with the plan to have eight electric models on sale by 2030. These will mostly be small and mid-sized motorcycles, including scooters, making them relatively affordable for consumers.

For its larger-capacity motorcycles, Suzuki is looking into the use of synthetic or carbonneutral fuels as a way of offsetting emissions.
