EX’ APPEAL TO GIVE JUDEX THE EDGE
TIM Vaughan is ticking along quietly this season, and his JUDEX LEFOU (2.45) can keep up his unbeaten record at Exeter with another win today.
After a couple of poor efforts to start the season, he bounced back to form when second in a competitive event for the grade at
Ludlow last time, holding every chance until a mistake two out cost him ground and impetus.
He tried hard all the way to the line but the damage was done, and he had to settle for the runner-up spot.
He won easily the last time he came to Exeter, running out a 13-length winner under very similar conditions to today, and he’s only 5lb higher than that win here, and still looks on a workable mark.
The drying ground looks in favour of AIMEE DE SIVOLA (3.55), and she looks about ready to win again.
Fitness
The Jane Williams-trained mare has had her issues; she had another year off before coming back in the autumn, and perhaps unsurprisingly needed her first couple of starts for fitness.
She bounced right back to form at Hereford last time, failing to give the fast-improving Loup De Maulde over a stone in finishing second, an effort that indicated she retains plenty if not all of her old ability.
Another trainer in cracking form is Robert Walford, with two winners and a head second from his last four runners, and CHLOE’S COURT (4.30) can go close in the Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle.
Back on the same mark as when successful at Wincanton last March, she was only just touched off at Lingfield two starts ago before throwing in a lesser effort at Hereford last time (the race in which Aimee De Sivola was second).
She needs to bounce back, but a good pace here will help, and with the yard in such irresistible form she has to be considered. DELGANY MONARCH
(2.40 – Nap) is a big price at Leicester on his handicap chase debut, but can be forgiven two poor runs this season on deep ground at Lingfield, and those efforts have served to see him drop to a tempting mark.
