All Greek to Ange

ANGE POSTECOGLOU claims Giorgos Giakoumakis’s Celtic exit is no longer on his radar.

The Hoops boss has told fans to look out for a fancy signing video on social media if they want an update on the Greek striker’s whereabouts.

Giakoumakis missed a January move out of Parkhead but different deadlines in America and Japan allow him to seal a £4million (€4.5m) switch to Atlanta

United or Urawa Red Diamonds in the coming days.

Spell

That’ll bring to an end an 18-month spell in Glasgow in which he netted 26 goals in 57 games.

And Postecoglou said: “There’s no update from me, and it’s not on my radar any more.

“Whatever club he goes to will do a nice video with some Greek music and footage of the plane arriving, and then everyone will know!

“My understanding is that it’s not far away.

“I will probably hear it about the same time as you guys. Maybe, if you are on Instagram, you will hear about it earlier than me.”

With 42 points up for grabs, Celtic could yet eclipse Brendan Rodgers’ Invincibles by finishing on 109 points

if they win all 14 of their remaining games.

But Postecoglou insists there’s no limit to his ambition. He said: “I don’t really set those kind of targets. If you do that, you kind of put a ceiling on what you can do. Let’s just be the best we can be and see where that takes us.”

“But physically, he did not look out of place — and as soon as I saw him in the games, in training, I could tell he was an outstanding professional. Physically and mentally, he was ready.

“He is a very mature lad, one who takes on information; nothing fazes him. He just gets on with it. I asked the senior staff what he was like, when he spent time with them in the last international window; they just said he was outstanding in training.

“We have all seen his performances for Brighton of late, scoring goals. And the best is yet to come. He is mature beyond his years.”

In a country that has been crying out for a leading goalscorer since Robbie Keane’s retirement, Ferguson’s emergence has filled us full of hope. But also hype. Hence the outcry when Fabinho delivered such a callous tackle.

Crawford said: “We all got a bit panicky with the challenge he received against Liverpool, but, by all accounts, it is not as serious as everybody thought it would be, which is great news.

“I am delighted with how he is playing.”

But if anyone knows there are no guarantees in football, it’s Crawford, not just because he sees all the pitfalls as a modern day manager but also because he, too, was once a prodigy, signed by Newcastle United at a time when they were riding the crest of a wave.

Yet, showing promise and delivering on it are two
