Speaking on the Miriam O’Callaghan show yesterday, Rod said: “I can’t wait to get back to Dublin... do you know I have an apartment there now?”

When asked if he plans on spending more time here, the singer added: “We intend to.

“It’s decorated now. I think we’re coming over in the first week of May.” Speaking about purchasing

A BELFAST actor is sharing his own experiences of growing up mixed-race in Ireland through a new play heading to the MAC this summer.

Premiering this May as part of The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast, I’ve Always Liked The Name Marcus is a funny and thought-provoking play that explores the complexities of identity and diversity.

Written and performed by Matthew Sharpe in collaboration with Tinderbox Theatre Company, the production draws inspiration from Matthew’s own life experiences. A description of the Dublin pad, Stewart said in 2021: “If I get out on my balcony, I’m going to see (rugby and football) crowds on a Saturday afternoon.

“The oceans and beaches, it’s gorgeous... I love the pubs in Dublin.”

Stewart also revealed he was excited about singing the ballad Grace at his Dublin show next month and joked he’ll “even do it twice if requested”.

Plans

The rock legend, who first began performing in 1961, also revealed he has no plans to retire even when he turns 80.

He told how he hopes to tour with his “blood brother” Jools Holland and perform in a number of small theatres.

The star said he credits his workout regime which keeps him “fit and able” for his “upbeat” perspective and said he likes to indulge in a couple of glasses of wine each night.

He added at present everything is “rosy”. the show reads: “Meet Marcus, raised in Northern Ireland with mixed-race heritage.

”Marcus has always gone along with society’s stereotypes to fit in but when an audition makes him question his true self, Marcus faces the ultimate dilemma, Who is he, really? “Part comingof-age story and part exploration of racial identity, audiences are invited to follow Marcus on his funny and provocative escapade as he embarks on a quest of self-discovery, peeling back the layers of societal expectations to uncover the truth buried deep within himself.” Matthew said: “Based on my own experiences coming from a mixed heritage, it’s a funny and relatable comingof-age comedy about the personas and stereotypes that are imposed upon you, especially during school. Ultimately, it’s about finding oneself.”
