HOWE CLASS IS ISAK NOW SAYS EDDIE NEWCASTLE..

-

ALEXANDER Isak is the hottest striker in Europe right now — and Eddie Howe would not swap him for anyone.

It’s 23 goals in 36 games this season. It’s 19 in the league, one behind

Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer for the Golden Boot. Nine goals in his last seven league games.

Isak has effortless pace, leggy poise, ruthless finishing, balletic balance. He scored all types of goals. He finished penalty kicks to both sides.

Isak is world class and has contributed to a remarkable goal-laden season for Howe’s side.

They have scored 74 goals in the league, their most in a top flight campaign since May 1997.

Howe has plenty of thoughts on his €63m signing, saying:

“World class? I think he is. I am not overly analysing every striker in world football but for me would I swap him for anyone and I wouldn’t.

“Look at his age, what is to come, and his attributes and qualities.

“We signed a very good player but playing in the Premier League improves you. Physically it is tough. You lead the line.

Career

“He is so confident in front of goal. Now he is in the best moment of his career. He looks in a really good place and I enjoy watching him.”

Isak’s two goals helped turn around a poor first half show, along with Bruno Guimaraes’ header, Wilson’s volley and Ben Osbourn’s own goal. Anel Ahmedhodzic netted the opener.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, were officially relegated, and manager Chris Wilder wants the chance to lead them back to the Premier League – after kicking off a brutal inquest into their hapless season.

The Blades have conceded 97 goals so far, a record in a 38 game top flight season, and manager Wilder says “the white flag has gone up” in too many games.

He has spoken some harsh truths to the club and his players. (below)
